Submit Your Own Video

Greetings ISET Members,

Over the past few months, ISET has relaunched our division’s website and increased our online presence. With the launch of the new website, ISET is committed to disseminating useful and innovative tools to our division members and the CEC community at large. In an effort to showcase our members’ areas of expertise, we are inviting our division members to submit self-created videos that will be selected to be showcased on our website. The videos should be a 3-5 minute overview of the use of technology to support the implementation of effective technology-based practice in special education (e.g., video modeling to support social skills instruction).

The videos’ topics should be related to either assistive or instructional technology for individuals with disabilities.

All topics are broadly defined, however, they should use the following standards as a framework:

  1. 3-5 minutes long
  2. Scripted/Captioned
  3. Family and practitioner friendly (no “research speak”).  A signed consent form should be obtained from the parents/ guardians of students are being filmed.
  4. Shot in front of a clean background
  5. ISET logo must be included in the background of the video
  6. Please link the use of technology to one of the following and provide a few sentences explaining how the practice relates the evidence:
    1. an established evidence-based practice (EBP). Examples of EBPs can be found in the What Works Clearinghouse Practice Guides, the National Center Professional Development Center for Autism or the IRIS Center Evidence-Based Practices Summaries

or

    1. The Universal Design for Learning Framework (http://udlguidelines.cast.org/_ .  Please consider using the UDL reporting criteria clearly connecting your ideas to individual UDL guidelines and checkpoints.   https://udl-irn.org/udl-reporting-criteria/

or

    1. Emerging/Promising Practices: May have established evidence that meets the What Works Clearinghouse with reservations or other evidence that indicates the potential for effectiveness.
    2.  Be sure to show/model the use of technology!

Submitted videos will be selected based on the above criteria by the ISET PD Committee and then uploaded to our website under the “Tech in Action” section. The videos will be available for all ISET members and CEC members to view. Each video will have a survey attached to evaluate viewer interest.  Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.

Completed videos (mp4 format only) can be sent to Sarah Howorth, Ph.D., BCBA-D, at sarah.howorth@maine.edu. If you would like some feedback on your idea, please feel free to submit a brief proposal before sending a video to us.

Thank you in advance for your contribution.

Sincerely,

The ISET Professional Development Committee
